- Algorithm: AES-256-GCM (Advanced Encryption Standard with Galois/Counter Mode)
- Key Derivation: PBKDF2-SHA-256 with 600,000 iterations (OWASP 2025 standard)
- Random Salt: 16-byte cryptographically secure random salt per encryption
- Initialization Vector: 12-byte random IV for each operation (prevents pattern detection)
- Implementation: Web Crypto API (native browser security, hardware-accelerated)
- Key Storage: Device-only, never transmitted or stored on servers
Why This Matters: Politicians, campaigns, and data brokers would pay significant amounts for your political preferences. Our encryption ensures that even if someone gained physical access to your device, your political data would be completely unreadable without your encryption key.

The system analyzes your chat messages across all features to detect your knowledge level (beginner, intermediate, advanced). It looks for advanced terminology like "cooperative," "governance," "stakeholder" versus simple terms like "what," "how," "help." FAQ responses automatically adjust complexity without you needing to specify your expertise.
💬 Per-Question Chat Widgets
Each FAQ has its own dedicated chat widget for contextual follow-up questions. Chat history is preserved per question using stable IDs (e.g., 'econ-001', 'work-002'), so even if question text changes over time, your conversation history remains intact. Each chat understands the context of its specific FAQ to provide relevant, targeted answers.
